1) Start Netscape and select Edit from the menus which spans the top of the screen. 2) Select Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings. This will the open the Netscape Mail program. 3) From the left-hand pane select Outgoing Server (SMTP) and ensure that the appropriate server name(andromeda.rutgers.edu or pegasus.rutgers.edu) is listed in the right hand pane Server Name field 4) In the right-hand pane, place a checkmark in the in the Use name and password box. 5) From the left-hand pane, under your account, select Server Settings 6) In the right-hand pane, place a checkmark in the in the Use secure connection (SSL) box. 7) Click OK.
You have enabled SMTP Authentication. You will be prompted to enter your password the first time you send email for each session. For example, if you leave your Netscape client open all day, you will be prompted for outbound email once a day.
