Can I send an email to the Help Desk to change my password?

Our security model precludes us from changing passwords via email or over the phone. We must verify your identity prior to changing your password.
If you have recently created your account it seems likely you will be
able to remotely reset your password. Upon creation of your account
were you asked to self-select three security questions and supply answers?
If you were you can use the remote password reset tool at

If this is not the case you will have to have your password reset in
person. We are unable to determine your current password as passwords
are one way encrypted. Our security model precludes us from resetting
passwords through email or over the phone.  You can visit our office
or any of the open access labs and they will be able to reset your
password.  Please bring your currently valid Rutgers ID for
identification purposes.  The process typically takes under fifteen
minutes. The hours of operation and location of the open access labs
are available at:
