It is
not generally possible to change your NetID (computing account username) after
account creation.
NCS
therefore strongly recommends that users select usernames appropriate for
public correspondence.
One
of the few exceptions to this policy is in case of legal name change,
especially after marriage. A former
student who has become employed at Rutgers in
a fulltime position may also require a NetID change.
In
these cases, the user may email a petition for NetID change to the Help Desk
and state the reasons necessitating such a change.
Users
should not view NetID changes as a quick and easy route to obtaining a new
email address (and thus temporarily eluding spammers and other unwanted
attention). Users suffering high spam
volume should switch on the university spam filter as well as investigating
client-side spam detection technologies.
For further assistance, users should contact the Help Desk.
