Windows TCP/IP can sometimes be corrupted by programs, and
viruses. The quickest way to make sure that the IP stack has not been damaged
is to reset it. The Protocol can also be damaged through ad-aware removal. If
you check your network connection properties and do not see a gateway that is
listed but IP information is correct, this will also fix the issue.
In Windows XP
1) Left click the Start button 2) Select run 3) In the open box type: netsh int
ip reset c:
esetlog.txt
In Windows Vista 1) Left click Start button 2) Type cmd in the Start search text box. 3) At the same moment press Ctrl-Shift-Enter keys to run Command Prompt as Administrator. Allow elevation requests 4) Type: netsh netsh int ip reset c:
esetlog.txt and press Enter. 5) Restart Computer
If this does not resolve the
problem, another solution may be to use a Utility called Winsock Xp Fix which
would need to be downloaded. Contact the
Help Desk for details. Note: Programs which monitor/access the Internet such as anti-virus or firewall may be adversely affected when you run the above reset command.
